Samantha’s visit

We were so pleased to be able to watch Samantha (from the Famous Jingles litter) last weekend, especially since we’ve only seen her once since she went to her home with the Fergusons in Nevada.  What a lovely, big girl she has become!

Sam got to visit with her brother Rockie (and his “brother” Charlie):

Here are our best shots of Samantha and Rockie together:

Here’s another of them and their tongues:

Thistle thought Samantha was the cat’s meow

Sam also got to meet her brother Jackson again.  Here are a couple pictures of them together.

And a video treat!   Here is Samantha playing fetch with the Aerobie… with Thistle and Ronan following closely.

Sam also got to go on a short hike with her brother River, but, alas, we were in a rush and didn’t get photos.

Here’s a rare treat- a photo of Don with the puppies.

Bye for now!

Corina and Jackson are in a magazine!

Corina and Jackson (Tigana’s In Perfect Harmony) from the Famous Jingles litter, are in a Belgian magazine!  The article is about folks who were forced into part time or freelance jobs by the recession.  Here they are– hopefully this plugin works in your browser.  If not, try this link and turn to page 8.

Croft Lake trip, part one

The first part of our trip was fun though we had weather challenges!   Jennifer (with Rockie) and Corina (with Jackson) both came up to spend some time at the lake with us.  Our first afternoon there was overcast, but the dogs still got to do some bumper retrieving off the dock.

We expected our normal varied weather- some sun, some rain, etc. but instead got mostly storms!   Starting that night we had two storms hit — the second storm bringing gale force winds along with it.  The lake and all the trails flooded- the dock sections all floated off.

We still managed to get out for shorter walks around the lake, lots of swimming for the dogs, trips into town, and cooked lots of good meals.   We didn’t get the usual “lounging on the deck swing in the sun” time, though.

Rockie loved playing with the puppies, and also discovered his inner field dog, especially after doing a field double perfectly on his first try.

Jackson and Rockie love each other

Here’s Jackson looking doubly handsome with his reflection in the water…  click on the image to see it in a larger size.

We took a day trip out to Charleston, Oregon, where we visited Sunset Bay State Beach, and Cape Arago.

Here’s Jackson in a typical beach pose.

Rockie, Sport, and Jackson at Cape Arago.

Saw a bunch of seals at Cape Arago…

Back at the lake, the dogs did lots of shore diving (since we had no dock!)…

Here’s Rockie:

Sport…

My favorite swimming head picture (L to R- Jackson, Sport, K’Ehleyr, Lola)

We went for a boat ride to the sand dunes on a relatively clear afternoon toward the end of the week.  (I’m taking the photo, and all the dogs are being held because they were upset I was in the other boat!)

More pics will be posted in a separate album– but that’s the flavor of the first week of the trip.  Until later!

Happy Birthday to the Famous Jingles puppies!

To Samantha, Jackson, River, Rockie, Lucy, and Danica– Happy 2nd Birthday!  Hopefully we’ll get some 2nd birthday photos to post!

A few updates!

I’ve been remiss in updating the website and blog! I think a full website update is coming up soon, so be watching for that.

In the last couple months:

  • Sport completed her Rally Novice (RN) title. That was both her and my first venture into anything remotely resembling obedience competition, so kind of exciting.
  • Jackson (Sport x Travis son) completed his Junior Dog (JD) dock diving title in Splash Dogs (5 legs jumping between 10′-15′).
  • Danica (Sport x Travis daughter) qualified in all 3 Novice Preferred Agility events at the GRCA National – her first trial!

I can’t believe the holidays are upon us already. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Splash Dogs!

What fun last weekend was! Sport’s son Rockie earned his first title, SRD (Senior Dock Dog). He had to earn 5 legs in competition jumping between 15-20 feet. As of last week, Rockie’s top jump of 19.04 feet puts him at #7 for Golden Retrievers in Splash Dogs (2009), and #13 for Goldens (since 2005). The picture below is Rockie placing 7th in the Pro Finals at Monterey County Fair, and Sport placing 7th in the Open Finals.

Not to be outdone, Jackson made it into a local newspaper, as he and Rockie also competed a few days prior, with Jackson getting his personal best competition jump at 14 feet! Click on Jackson’s picture to read the article on-line.

Don’t ask what Sporty jumps. She just has fun! :-)

birthday party

The Sport/Travis pups in the Bay Area got together for their 1-year birthday party yesterday. More pictures to come, but here’s the group shot! Momma Sporty is sitting like a dweeb, but her kids look good so we’ll just have to overlook that part! :-)

(L to R): River, Lucy, Rockie, Sport, Jackson

I love this next picture of Sport and Lola, taken right after the group shot.  “Auntie Lola” didn’t want to be left out!

happy 1st birthday to the “famous jingles” pups!

A year ago today, the Sport/Travis pups were born!  Sam was the first around 6:45am, then Jackson, River, Rockie, Lucy… and Dani was the last to arrive around 9:30am.   Both Sam and Dani were the biggest at almost 20oz, with Sam coming feet first, and Dani with a huge head.  Poor Momma Sporty (and Don and I) had to work hard to get those two big girls out.

All that work was worth it!  Today these lovely, happy, smart, active (oh, and let’s not forget mischievous) Golden pups are well-loved by their families and out in the world doing fun things.   Some of the games they play:  Jackson (freestyle-canine dancing/tricks, agility), River (obedience/rally, agility), Rockie (agility and soon-to-be dock diver), Dani (obedience, field, agility).  Sam goes on lots of long hikes, and Lucy gets lots of play-time with her family and doggy friends.

Happy, Happy Birthday!!

(pups are pictured in birth order)

Fast forward to 11 months…

Remember these puppies?

They were the biggest (River) and the smallest (Lucy), and the best of friends in the litter. Look at them now!
