Snowy Egret

I promised to post a couple of Don’s egret pictures. Had a hard time choosing between several, but here are two of my favorites. Some of the photos were taken while K’Ehleyr was frantically barking at it, but the egret couldn’t have cared less.

Reporting in from Croft Lake

Thought I’d post some of Don’s latest photographic work from the lake, as it’s pretty cool.

This first one taken from the deck (the orb in the middle is the moon):

This next photo is a composite of several images illustrating star trails around the North Star. The photos were taken from the dock looking toward the cabin. One of the images captured a falling star- you can see it slightly to the left and below the North Star.

I’ll post more later– just saw that he got some fantastic images of an egret today!

Mac and Cheese recipe

To make this somewhat dog-related, I will say that the dogs loved this recipe, perhaps almost as much as I did.  :-)   They only got a taste, though.  I had it for dinner last night, and breakfast and lunch today.  Yum.

One of my favorite radio talk show hosts, Gene Burns, posted this recipe on his blog.  He has a nightly newstalk show as well as a ‘Dining Around’ show on Saturdays.  This has to be the best Mac & Cheese I’ve ever had, though perhaps the most expensive to make because of the 3 different kinds of cheese it requires.

Enjoy!!

Goat’s Milk soap

OK, this is so not dog-related, but I haven’t been very happy with my bath soap (purchased from Costco so it has lasted FOREVER) and have been wanting to try something new. I decided to find the top-rated soap on Amazon, and it turned out to be Canus Goat’s Milk. Such rave reviews! Supposedly it is the most moisturizing natural soap out there, and very gentle on the skin. It can also be used as facial soap. So.. I went ahead and ordered a set of 12 bars. Used it this morning, and it definitely didn’t dry out my face but we’ll see how well it works in the long run. It’s from Canada so it must be good. :-) (spoken like a true Canadian, eh?)
